hi is terbafine a steroid and does it lead to increased sugar levels. My sugar levels increased considerably after having Zimig 250 terbafine tablets for four months, twice a day. Now i am not taking the medicine. The sugar levels for the first time pp reached 220.it used to be 120. Can the sugar levels go down without drugs and just exercise.regards Sagar
No, Terbinafine is not a steroid and it does not increase blood sugar levels.
A sugar of 220mg/dl after food is diagnostic of Diabetes and requires treatment. It is recommended to start on an oral hypoglycemic to lower blood sugar level at this stage.
I recommend consulting with your doctor regarding the drugs to start and any lifestyle modifications that may be required like decreasing sugar intake, regular exercise, decreasing alcohol consumption and smoking. Hope this answers your question, thank you.
