Does Topomax Cause Confusion, Impaired Thoughts And Lethargy?

My daughter is 14 and was prescribed topomax for migraine prev nation. 25 mugs. Tonight she seemed more subdued than usual and woke up at 2:00 am confused. She went to the bathroom and Imfound her on the toilet confused and lethargic. She vomitted and we got her back to bed. She is now sleeping. Adverse event?

Thanks for contacting with your health concerns and after reviewing the drug topomax (topiramate) following are the drug interactions:

1. Topomax is a prescription drug used to prevent migraine headaches in adults and adolescents above 12 years but is not used to stop a migraine after it has started and also to prevent seizures.

2. These side effects are dose related side effects experienced during the early stage of treatment so best is to talk with your attending physician who can adjust the dose of topomax (if necessary)

PS. Do no stop taking topamax without first talking with your doctor as stopping it suddenly can cause serious problems, and because it causes metabolic acidosis thus could be the reason of vomiting

PS.. Dispensing errors have been reported between Topamax (topiramate) tablets and TOPROL-XL (metoprolol succinate) tablets so make sure you are using the right tablet.
