Does Triamcinolone With Kenalog Cause Adverse Side Effect?

I have been told I need a hip replacement because of osteoarthritis. I am a 71 year old male. I want to schedule the operation in January, 2018. In the meantime I had an injection of triamcinolone with kenalog to relieve the pain temporarily. Now I am reading about some potential serious side effects with this drug. Because I am not medically trained I don t know how to put this in perspective. Question: should I be concerned about deterioration of the hip or other side effects?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

Kenalog is a brand name for Triamcinolone injection. So both are not different medication but the brand and generic name, respectively. No need to worry about interaction. Triamcinolon long-term use has its own disadvantages like other corticosteroids have. So on temporary use it has no side effects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
