Does Trimethoprim Cause Anxiety, Twitching Legs And Breathlessness?

I am taking Trimethoprim for a UTI. taken 4 of the 6 tablets and just had a terrible episode of anxiety. Legs were twitching, breathlessness and slightly light headed. Have stopped the medicine and waiting for the doc to call me to discuss. Has this been a side-effect for me? Is this common?

The above symptoms that you mention are pretty non specific and it is difficult to attribute it to trimethoprim. Trimethoprim is a relatively safe drug. After stopping the drug are you finding relief from the same complaints. ? If yes, then it is highly suggestive of trimethoprim,
