Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, my 14 year old daughter has just recently been diagnosed with chronic function abdominal pain. She is experiencing some mild nausea and stomach cramping right now. I want to give her something to get it under control before it graduates to the vomiting. She has been prescribed promethazine suppositories, which we have never used before. I gave her 2 pepto bismol pills, 2 1/2 tsp liquid Benadryl and her omeprazole. She also takes zyprexa at night. My question is; can we use thepromethazine suppositories and Tylenol along with these other meds or do they need to be spaced out?
There is no documented harmful interaction between Tylenol and Promethazine hence they can be given together. However, using liquid Benadryl together with Promethazine may cause sleepiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, heat intolerance, flushing, constipation, urinary retention, irregular heartbeat, confusion, and memory problems. Hence, these two medicines need to be spaced out. There is no documented interaction between other listed drugs.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
