Does Utovlan Cause Delayed Periods?

So I’ve taken utovolan for about a week now to delay my period whilst I’ve been on holiday. I know my next period will come any day now but I have a question about my period for next month. Will that period be delayed or will it come at the time it would’ve came if I hadn’t taken the utovolan?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The delayed period could be due to hormonal imbalance because of the changing of the birth control pill. I would suggest you wait for a period. If period will delay by more than 14 days from expected period date, then consult the gynecologist for the detailed examination.

For investigations of irregular menstruations, you may be asked for hormonal work up like FSH, LH, Estrogen, Progesterone, Prolactin, and etcetera.

Before hormonal checkup, you will be examined internally to find any organic disease like infection, or cyst-ultrasonography will also reveal a good amount of information regarding your internal organs (and even pregnancy also).

Avoid stress, take a healthy diet, drink plenty of water and do regular exercise.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
