Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Venlafaxine is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin and
norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SSNRIs).
It is used in the treatment of
major depressive disorder, anxiety, and panic disorder.
Common side effects seen with use of Venlafaxine include: anorgasmia (inability to achieve orgasm), physical weakness or lack of energy, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, nausea, nervousness, headache, anorexia, decreased appetite, delayed ejaculation, diaphoresis, and xerostomia (dryness of mouth).
Other side effects include:
abdominal pain, anxiety,
hypertension, impotence, tremor, visual disturbance, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia, increased
serum cholesterol, pharyngitis, vasodilatation, weight loss, increased dream activity, yawning, abnormal dreams and flatulence.
Although it may result in untoward effects related to abdomen, it does not contribute to weight gain.
Kindly check your eating habits and exercise regularly so that it would be helpful in maintaining proper weight.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
