Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take two 180 mg verapamil er daily, and one benicar 40 mg along with a 300 mg allopurinol. When I have a gout flareup I normally stop taking the allopurinol and take colcrys (0.6 mg) twice daily for normally 3-5 days. Is there a conflict with taking verapamil with the colcrys.
These two medications can be taken together since there is no scientific evidence that some interactions or serious side effects exist. SO if there is medical indication then it can be taken just be sure to take it in recommended dosage.
Also, you must be sure that you are not allergic to any ingredient of these drugs. If you start to feel any signs such as breathing difficulties or rash, you should stop medications and see a doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
