Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, A few weeks ago I had an anaphylactic reaction to Sulfa in an antibiotic I was prescribed. I was just wondering if a different medication (I only take when needed) has the same chemical in. The medication is called Vesicare and contains 'Solifenacin Succinate'. Do you think this would be ok to take.
Vesicare is not the same as sulfonamide. Vesicare contains an antimuscarinic med called solifenacin. It is used to treat the spasms of an overreactive bladder.
Sulfonamide instead is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infection of the urinary tract.
So, it won't be a problem if you use vesicare.
All the best.
