Does Vimpat Cause Agitation?
Does Vimpat cause aggitation? My son has been taking it for over 2 years and recently I was told by another physician that it can cause irritability and anger problems. I don t really want to change his medication since he is doing so well on the combination with Lamotrigine for his seizures. His neurologist never mentioned the medication could cause any anger problems. My son also has been diagnosed with moderate mental retardation.

Vimpat is composed of 'Lacosamide', which is an anticonvulsant or antiepileptic drug, used as an adjunctive treatment of partial-onset seizures.
The most common side effects (experienced by 10% of individuals) of Vimpat include dizziness, headache, double vision, and nausea.
Less common side-effects include forgetfulness, discouragement, feelings of sadness, and lack of appetite.
Compatible is not known to alter behaviour and cause agitation. Kindly continue with the medications as prescribed and do the necessary follow-up with your doctor as advised.
