Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a Mirena and was recently told to take Vitex to help with some breast sensitivity and vaginal irritation a few days out of the month, which concurs with when I should have a period. I do not get a period now and I am wondering if taking Vitex will begin my periods again even though the Mirena is still in place.
Though side effects vary from patient to patient,Vitex has no such indication that should interfere with your periods.Consult your treating doctor about how long you have to take Vitex;if your vaginal irritation and breast sensitivity has normalized.Stop only after consultation with your treating doctor.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
General & Family Physician
