Does Xanax Cause Memory Loss Over Time?

I am 72 yrs old male and habitual of using Xanax 1 mg for many many years and probably as a result therefore have become a forgetful person . Can I I get rid of drug abuse now......otherwise I am quite a successful person in life. I am a high blood pressure and a marginal diabetes patient .

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have soft spot on the head along with headaches. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like age related factor , Parkinson's , but in your case the symptoms are probably due to xanax as its side effect . I would suggest you to consult doctor who prescribed you this medicine . Doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute . Doctor may also refer you to neurologist in case of problem related with brain and nerves .
