Does Xarelto Cause Draining Of Clear Discharge From The Wounds?

My husband was recently placed on Xarelto and both legs started to weep profusely. Clear drainage. After 2 weeks he stopped taking it and the drainage stopped. He developed blot clots in a lung and had to be put on Heperin, then on Eliquis, and both legs are weeping again, alot; but nowhere near what they were on Xarelto. Since he had NO problem like this before Xarelto, so he have his Doc try other blood thinners? I didc find on the FDA website that Xarelto can cause wounds to weep.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Xarelto can help stop clots from forming and so can increase fluid drainage from the wound.
It is a side effect of Xarelto.
If the draining continue you should consult your doctor about this side effect.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
