Does Zoloft Cause Fluttering Sensation In The Heart Along With Arrhythmia?
I took zolft for panic attack from 2011-2013. I slowly tapered them off & did well with attack. In Dec 2015 I began a highly stressful job & panic attacks seemed to reoccur. My primary care doctor put me back on Zolft 50mg. I noticed shortly after beginning Zolft again I began having strange flutters in my heart. I began seeing a cardiologist. I had a stress test, echocardiogram & wore a halter monitor for a week. Cardiologit said I had many extra beats but all test looked good. I am now taking metoprolol. The extra beats are NOT getting better. Could this be a result from Zolft 50mg? I need to get to the bottom of this because the extra beats occur so often & drive me crazy! Lol (I have roughly 20 -30 in a 6 hour period...sometimes more!)
All medications have potential side effects that may or may not occur.
Zoloft can potentially cause palpitations and also cause changes in the rate and rhythm of the heart beat with different potential abnormalities.
This means that it is possible that it is contributing to the problem that you are experiencing.
You may want to discuss this with your doctor. The two of you may want a trial off the medication or switching entirely to another medication to see if you respond.
I hope this helps
