Zoloft is composed of 'sertraline', which is an antidepressant belonging to the group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
Zoloft is used to treat
depression,
obsessive-compulsive disorder , panic disorder,
anxiety disorders,
post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and
premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
Major side effects that can occur while taking sertraline, which is more common are:
1. Decreased sexual desire or ability
2. Failure to discharge semen (in men)
Other less common or rare side effects include:
1. Aggressive reaction
2. Breast tenderness or enlargement
3. Confusion
4. Convulsions
5. Diarrhea
6. Drowsiness
7 Dryness of the mouth
These side effects need medical attention.
Since convulsions are listed in less common or rare side effects, it could have manifested in you, and could be also a late reaction as well.
Kindly take the medications as advised now by your doctor and do the necessary follow-up as suggested.
