Does Zoloft Cause Severe Fatigue?

I have been taking 100mG of Zoloft for some time. I didn t realize it was for depression., until recently. Recently I have felt depressed and spoke to my doctor. He increased my Zoloft by 1/2 a tablet telling me that it was prescribed for my depression. Since increasing the dosage I have been extremely tired and seem to want to sleep a lot. Don t think that is normal. I feel I should decease the dosage back to the original 100MG. Any thoughts on this?I did not realize there was a fee associated with this web site and answers provided. I do not want to pay. A fee and am sorry to have taken your time. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Zoloft is composed of Sertraline, which is an antidepressant belonging to a group of drugs called selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Zoloft is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
Signs of an allergic reaction side effects like skin rash or hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat needs to be attended on emergency basis. You need to report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor, such as: mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, or if you feel impulsive, irritable, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperactive (mentally or physically), more depressed, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself. Since you are experiencing severe fatigue and sleepiness, it would be better to consult your doctor for proper evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
