Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my oncologist wants to treat me with Zometa because of the cancer cells that have shown up in my hip & back. I heard that Zometa causes bone to become brittle & cause them to shatter if a break occurs. Does Z. work by producing osteoclasts or osteoblasts? How qualified to answer these questions are you? What about radiation? Ruth
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The anti cancer medicines do decrease the active bone regeneration and make the bones weak and prone to fractures. You need to take adequate measures to avoid any injury. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Praveen Tayal , drtayal72@gmail.com
