Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has what I believe to be to be a spider bite. He said it started out as a small bump resembling a boil but it did not have a white head on it was black. He busted it and since then the area is very red open and drain green looking puss. He hasn t seen a Dr yet. Since this has been going on his legs and feet are also swelling and red. What could this be. I m just looking for a general idea of what we are looking at?
Yes, few spiders' venom (funnel web spider, red back spider) may cause bite site edema, gangrene formation, cellulitis or anaphylaxis reaction.
The infection leads to pus formation that needs to be drained. Please consult your surgeon/physician. He may need Tetanus Toxoid injection, antibiotics and antihistamines and debridement.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
