Does A Bed Wetting Nine Year Old Require Medication For It?
My 9 year old grandson is still wetting the bed, when not at home he takes medication that allows him to stay dry. But lately he is getting diarrhea and stomach pains often. First, should we be worried about a 9 year old still wetting the bed, and could the meds be causing the stomach upsets?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Bed wetting can be taken care by doing toilet training properly. Try to feed less amount of water and fluids during evening hours so that bladder will not be full during night time to stimulate bed wetting. Make him pee compulsorily before going to bed. Do not scold if he pees in the bed, but make him understand the importance of going and doing it in toilet with nice words. Encourage him with some good words when he does it right. With above measures and toilet training, he should be able to decrease the frequency and then completely stop bed wetting. For diarrhea and stomach pain, you can give Enterogermina with oral re-hydration solution.
Hope the information provided helps. All the best.
Regards.
