Does A Black Discharge While Urinating Indicate Ectopic Pregnancy?
My wife had ectopic pregnancy and it was ruptured last year (April, 2014). Now, she is fine and we are planing. Recently, she is feeling abdominal pain whenever she is walking for 5-10 minutes. Today she saw some black(sticky) discharge while urinating. Is it a serious issue? I need your suggestion.

Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. S. Samanta's Response
Hi, thanks for sharing your wife's health concerns with HCM!
If I were your treating Doctor for this case of painless black discharge, I would come up with three possibilities and these are kind of some serious matter BUT NOT SIGN OF ECTOPIC PREGNANCY; these include:
1. some endometrial changes like hyperplasia or poly due to hormonal tablets 2. The second possibility is of a urinary bladder pathology ? endometriosis 3. The last possibility is of some infective pathology in urine or vagina; could be some polyp or ulcer also!
Overall, do not neglect this and I would suggest her to maintain local hygiene and do some microscopic examination of the secretion and do an urgent UGS of lower abdomen!
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing her good health.
