Does A Diabetic Patient In Stuporous, Disoriented State Require ER?
My dad is 90 and diabetic. He recently broke his shoulder while out "weed whacking". Is on Neurontin for peripheral neuropathy and hydrocodone for shoulder fx. My sister is caring for him and tonight his blood sugar was 170, BP IS 120/54. He is stuperous, disoriented and incontinent of urine. Also, had pancreatitis 8 wks. ago from Glypizide. Should she take him to ER for eval.
Hi, Tes, I suggest you need to take him to the ED as soon as possible. He needs a detailed assessment. He may be suffering an infection as a cause of his confusion. Or it may be related to his diabetic control. Regards, Dr K A Pottinger
