Does A Different Brand Of Tri-Estarylla Tablets Have A Different Effect?

Hello! I am on my fourth day of my placebo pill of my Tri estryalla birth control, and I still have no period even though my boobs are sore. Recently me and my boyfriend have been sexually active, but we always use a condom as a back up method. However, the condom has broke once or twice recently before he ejaculates. I guess I am just worried about Precum . Lately I have not been very good about taking my birth control and have been taking it pretty irregularly. This is my first month of Tri estryalla, because when I was at college the pharmacy there gave me a different version of a similar birth control. Do I need to be worried about pregnancy? Could the slightly different birth control be the cause of this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
Irregular intake of any brand of birth control pills always has a risk of pregnancy if adequate precautions are not taken.
Also, it is recommended to properly use other modes of contraception during the first month like condoms and spermicides while you change your birth control pills.
If you do not take the pill at regular time daily, there is a risk of pregnancy.
However, you may wait for about 10 days for periods to happen this time.
In case it is delayed beyond 10 days, you need to take urine pregnancy test and seek medical attention promptly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
