You will have as many follicles at the start of your reproductive age as were present at your birth in that ovary. From then on during every cycle there is only one follicles that matures and at the time of ovulation, the Ovum or your contribution to the formation of your baby, that ovum or egg will be extruded. That is the dominant follicle. So every cycle you will have your dominant follicle.
Now whether you will be able to get pregnant after one particular ovulation depends on a lot of other factors like your husband's
fertility status. That is why the male member of n infertile couple is always thoroughly examined first, out of courtesy towards the ladies...may be! At the time of ejecting out of the ovum from ovary, the Fallopian tubes have to catch it and as the sperms lodged during copulation in upper
Uterus travel upwards and towards ovaries in the Fallopian tube, the ovum in turns flows away from ovaries towards the sperm. In the sojourn if the tubes have any block or
fibrosis the fusion will not be possible. So that is why some other tests are done like Hysterosalphyngography [HSG] to rule out
tubal block after seeing the tubes radiologically after injecting a dye-a very painful procedure, and also the reason why husbands are to be examined first.
About having to start again all over, any way as long as you are in your reproductive age group you have to start afresh at the beginning of new cycle. So why worry? And easy or difficult-you are a better judge of your cycle.
I hope you got your answer. Godspeed!
