Does A Flatter Sac In The Womb Confirm Pregnancy?

Hi, I just went to my first prenatal visit yesterday. The first day of my last menstrual period was April 23rd. According to this date, I am 8 weeks and 3 days but I feel I may be earlier than that. My Dr saw an empty sac but oval shape, no baby. I am devastated. I haven t bled at all. She immediately sent me to a radiologist to take more ultrasounds and that dr found different results, a flatter sac. My dr was stunned because in less than an hour, my sac changed. What do you think? I am going for my next ultrasound on Monday to see if there is any progression. I feel pregnant and breast are sore. I am still having hope.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is unclear. The doctors need to measure a quantitative HCG (blood test) to confirm pregnancy. If this is positive then you are pregnant and they can repeat the test every few days to make sure the pregnancy is progressing normally.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Kathy Robinson, General & Family Physician
