Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. It is good that your son is conscious, oriented and active. It means dangerous
head injury has been already ruled out. Answering your question regarding possibility of concussion, it is possible that
basketball injury can give rise to it.
But in your son, there is only complaint that is headache. Concussion is usually diagnosed when blunt head injury leads to temporary
loss of consciousness without actual visible
brain damage. It usually causes headache, memory deficit, behaviour problems. If your son never lost consciousness after injury, then concussion is ruled out. If there was loss of consciousness, then concussion might have occurred. No need to do anything extra for it. Just avoid repeat head injury with in first few months. It heals on its own.
For headache, you can
: Apply icepacks at injury site
: Avoid pressure at injury site
: You can give him painkiller like DIclofenac sodium after proper prescription
: If still no relief,
consult doctor.
Hope it will help you. Thanks. Take care.
