Does A Mildly Positive Inducible Ischemia Need An Angiogram?
Hi Doctor, my mother took a ECG test as a part of a health checkup and has got incomplete rbbb (from ECG) and trivial mitral regurgiation (observed from echo cardiogram) has been diagnosed with mildly positive inducible ischemia(treadmill test). she has been asked to go for angiogram. Is the angiogram a must in this case? Thanks, Badri.
Hi welcome to HCM. Its an absolute must in case of inducible ischemia on treadmill test, which suggests reduced blood supply to heart under increased requirements like exercise. This procedure Angiography involves passing radiocontrast dye in the coronary blood to vessels to detect any blocks in the circulation. If found thrombolysis or stent placement can be the treatment option.Consult your cardiologist for further queries. Thank you.
