Does A Painful Hernia Cause Delayed Menstrual Cycles ?
Hi I m Amanda and I am 20 years old. My period is a week late (I usually get it the first week every month). I also just moved home from living with my grandma who no longer gets hers to living with my mom who still does. I took at HPT at 5 days late and it came back negative. I also have a hernia in my lower abdomen near my pelvic bone . Is my period late due me changing to match my mom or could my hernia be causing it to be late? My hernia has also been causing me more pain than usual...... any ideas?
hello
welcome to health care magic. your period could be late due to a few reasons. if you had unprotected intercourse, there is always a chance of pregnancy. you have done a urne pregnancy test, however i feel you should get a blood test to be sure you are not pregnant(serum beta hcg titre). the blood test is definitely more reliable than the home urinary pregnancy test.
periods can be naturally dealyed upto 7 days once in a while without any cause. however if they are always delayed it is better to get your self investigated.
stress of any kind also has an impact on your periods, can be delayed or can come sooner.
also do you have famoily history of a thyroid disorder? that can also cause problems with your period.
hernis has nothing to do with your periods. the menstrual cycle is controlled by the higher centers in the brain .
