Does A Scalloped Tongue Indicate Thyroid Disorder?

Hello I was looking at my tongue and it is scalloped I was told it could be a thyroid issue. While I was looking that up I saw a post stating if you are missing the half moon circled on your finger nail beds that that can also indicate the same thing. Should I get checked out for thyroid issues?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Scalloped tongue is due to indentations formed at the sides of tongue that is commonly due to large sized tongue or Macroglossia..

On the other hand Macroglossia can be due to a number of causes like hypothyroidism, amyloidosis, acromegaly etc..

So first of all consult a Physician and get evaluated..
After a clinical examination further investigations like hormonal profile can be advised to rule out the cause and treatment can be done according to the diagnosis..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
