Does Accidental Peeling Of Steri Strips Cause Any Side Effect?

I had my laparoscopic hysterectomy last Tuesday (9 days ago). My special needs child just had a major meltdown and, among other things, kicked me in the stomach a couple of times. I am now very sore all over. The steri strips came off of my stomach, but I don t see any blood. Should I be concerned?

Hello,

You had laparoscopic hysterectomy done last Tuesday. Your special needs child accidently kicked you in the stomach a couple of times and presently, you are sore all over. There is no blood but steri strips came off. Yes, you should be concerned & get a follow up clinical examination done in the ER or at your treating doctor's clinic. s steri strips hold the edges of the wound / cut till they heal.

Removing Steri-Strips early or by accident can cause wound dehiscence, a complication in which the edges of a wound no longer meet, it can cause delayed healing. Thus, increasing the chances of unsightly scarring and an increased risk of infection. Get clinically evaluated. Antiseptic dressing done & if required the steri strips can be freshly re-applied. Do not touch the affected area with dirty hands, do not scratch. Do not neglect. Neglect may lead to unnecessary complications later.
