Does Alcohol Consumption Hinder Brain Development?

Age -- 21 Sex -- Male Height -- 6 feet 0 inches (183 cm) Weight -- 255lbs Race -- Nigerian Hello, I ve got a bit of a question. I just learned that alcohol can have negative effects on the developing brain until the age of 25 and I m a bit concerned. I ve only ever drank 4 times, but each time it was a pretty significant binge, hard liquor upwards of 500-750 ml each. My first time drinking was when I was 16 at my high school grad, and then at 18, 20, and 21. And I didn t really think it was much of an issue, since despite my drinking a lot, it was never frequent (just at big summer get-togethers). And I handle my alcohol fairly well. My question is: has my drinking caused any damage to my brain development? I heard that such alcohol-related damage is permanent and I was wondering if that s true, or if there s some chance of reversing the damage done.

Hello
No worries here--you didn't drink alcohol on a daily basis for, say, a year or more, and it would take that amount of drinking to possibly cause some brain damage. So long as you abstain from alcohol except in moderation--say one or two drinks twice a week--your brain should be fine
