does an acute fissure require surgery??and can it heal with local application of ointment and if taken care of diet..am taking stool softener so for how long can I take it.?Prolonged use of ointment n stool softener will cause any harm?? approximately how long wil it take to heal?
Hi I did review your concern. surgery is not an option for acute and inflammed anal fissure. As you said the best treatment is local anesthetic ointment, hot sitz bath with antiseptics and stool softners. In most cases your fissure will heal withing 14-21 days of time but you need to continue the local treatment for 2 months to keep the fissure in completely healed stage. I hope this helps wish you all the best thank you for choosing healthcaremagic.
