Okay, so my 9 month old had an episode where she stopped breathing and luckily I caught her otherwise she would have been dead. She was swinging in her swing, nothing around her she could choke on and she kicks off the blankets. Well I was watching her on her monitor and she made funny noises like she was gasping. I didn t think anything of it because she stopped and I thought she went back to sleep. Went down to check and get her a minute later and she was 100% blue. It was like she was a rag doll. She didn t choke on anything and I gave her CPR until ambulance got there. They got her breathing, We went to a hospital across from us where she stopped breathing again and got intubated. We got taken to children s hospital (they took out her tube an hour later when we got there) and stayed for almost a week and got EVERY testing done. Brain, heart, swabs, blood drawn, lungs, x Rays, anything you can think of she was pricked and poked and they found absolutey nothing. She was acting normal an hour before, didn t choke on anything and hasn t had another episode since. They sent me with a monitor but I still want answers. Does it just happen sometime?? Could there be some stuff that s rare that can cause this??? They suggested I caught her in the middle of SIDS but don t really diagnose SIDS unless a baby actually does from it. I m just confused. Nothing s wrong with her, she s healthy, she does get runny noses a lot and that s really it. She tried new food the night before (mashed potatoes and these cinnamon dissolvable baby food sticks) could that be a problem?? Thanks in advance. I just want answers or second opinion. ALL test came back good she hasn t had an episode since. She does gag a lot on food though. Doesn t like much food besides nursing, formula, and infant dissolvables.
