Hello dear,I understand your concern.In my opinion the belly button infection might not affect the baby directly.But any infection in body might predispose to uterine irritation and then preterm pains.So it needs to be treated.Usually the well being of fetus is known by the fetal movement count.It should be atleast 10 in a span of 12 hours per day.So observation of fetal movements is important.Less fetal movement count is seen in less liquor and fetal distress etc. Best regards...Dr.Srilatha
