Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does An Insect Bite Before A Surgery Cause Any Complication?
I found an American dog tick on my arm when I got back from working in the garden. I got a tissue and pulled him off. He came away with just a little tug and it looked like he may have had a piece of my skin in his mouth. There was no blood on my arm--just a small red spot. Put him in a plastic bag after trying to kill him several times. He still has his head and is alive. I am going into surgery in two weeks--should I be concerned? YYYY@YYYY
Most of the times, it doesn't cause any problem but sometime it can cause moderate to severe infection (localized and if not controlled can causes severe blood infection).
Since you are going for surgery in two weeks, i would advise you to look for any symptoms of infection like fever, localized pain and swelling and burning sensation and warmth feeling. If yes, then visit you physician immediately.
Thanks
