Does An Itchy Rash In The Intergluteal Cleft Indicate Fungus Or Eczema?

Hello! I have a persistent rash in my butt crack that is itchy and painful, and gets worse on days that I go swimming, or sweat a lot. I itch it so much that it gets raw and then later gets crusty. Wondering if it s a fungus or eczema. I do not have eczema anywhere else but I have seborrheic dermatit is on my scalp.

Hello,

It could be eczema. As a first line management, you can apply low potency steroid creams like betamethasone for symptomatic relief. If the lesion persists, it is better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
