Does Antibiotic For Chronic Strep Throat Cause Tingling Archs Of Feet?

I have chronic strep throat because of my tonsils. My doctor did a rapid strep that was negative and the culture was positive. I tried clarithromycin but I had muscle cramp legs so we switched to clindamycin. I have tingling in the archs of my feet when I am at rest. Do you think I should stop the antibiotic?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

One should never discontinue an antibiotic without consulting the doctor who had prescribed it. So you should call your doctor and ask for a different antibiotic and also ask how the change is going to be managed. By the way, a chronic bacterial inflammation is not a good situation. Have you ever talked to an ear-nose-throat specialist about removing the pharyngeal tonsils?

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Alexander Davis, General & Family Physician
