My blood pressure has been high, averaging 130/80. At the moment its 112/69. I haven t really done anything today, and there s been a soreness I between my shoulder and left pectoral area. My doc thnks I have an anxiety issue. Was wondering if this kind of stuff comes normal with anxiety.
Yes anxiety can cause rise in blood pressure. Your blood pressure 130/80 is little bit high, not so that it need intervention. So just relax.
Anxiety can be due to many reasons. Like any stress, performance anxiety, physical problem or pain also.
In anxiety either of flight or fight response occurs. means either person try to fight with situation or avoid the situation.
For that person's sympathetic system becomes more active to supply blood flow to whole body muscles. Catecholamines and adrenaline secretion also occurs(hormones to make person able to fight the vulnerable situation). All of these lead to increase in blood pressure and after anxiety response subsides, blood pressure comes to normal on its own.
Hope I have answered your query. Regards, Dr.Chintan Solanki.
