Hi! My grandmother applies Vaseline to her urethral area before giving herself an enema. She believes that this will protect her from getting fecal bacteria in her urethra and therefore prevent a urinary tract infection. However, we're wondering if this Vaseline might actually be causing her urinary tract infections since she gets them often. Is it possible that the Vaseline is actually acting as a carrier for the bacteria?
