Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, this is Vikram here. I have had orchitis twice in the past four years. The latest occurrence was in the Month of May 2014. I believe i'm completely healed now. I wanted to know if i can start going to the gym now? Also, does orchitis affect the sperm count?
Orchitis is inflammation of the testes. it is due to infection in most cases. both viral and bacterial pathogens are known to infect the testes and thus cause orchitis.
For sure, orchitis will affect sperm count. Such infections may alter the normal functioning of the testes thus leading to low sperm production. there could as well infect and destroy the sperm cells directly.
I do not see any reason why you should not start going to gym. All things being equal, unless for another problem you might not have mentioned, there is no reason not to go to the gym.
Hope this helps. Best regards Dr Achuo
