Does Arthritis Along With Severe Joint Pain Have Alternative Treatment Methods?
I have recently been diagnosed with arthritis(not rheumatoid). My thumb joints are bone against bone and give me pain. I m not seeking medication for pain. What other options are available to get some relief. I m only 58 years old and will need to use my hands for many years to come.
Dear patient you have got osteoarthritis of both thumb joints. this is age related process. if u don't want to take medications intraarticular steroid injection gives good results. Alternative measures are use of thumb spicy splint and hot water fomenting. please consult orthopaedic surgeon nearby your area for injection.
Dear patient You have got arthritis of carpometacarpal joints of both hands. This is age related process and also known as osteoarthritis. First line treatment is analgesics and hot water fomentation. if not relieved intraarticular injection of local corticosteroids like depomedrol helps in most cases. Injection should be given under ultrasound guidance. If single injection does not give relief then second injection can also be given. This intraarticular injection is harmless. if still pain is there surgery may be advised like interposition arthroplasty. hope this is useful.
Arthritis can be seen with inflammatory toxins that are produced by the body. These are toxins that can cause pain and swelling.
Many people find using warm water and soaking the arms in pain killer gel useful as well. In case the symptoms persist, getting a check up to check for gout can be useful as well.
Seeing an Orthopedician would be a good idea as well.
I hope that this helps.
