Does Bilateral Polycystic Ovaries Need Medical Attention?
Sir, I am 22 years old and unmarried woman. I was having irregular periods and found I have bilateral polycystic ovaries on diagnosis. I had my last periods on April 7-14. Today, April 23, I am having lighter vaginal bleeding accompanied with cramps. So please let me know how long it will last and whether I should consult a doctor or not.
Polycystic ovaries are associated with irregular bleeding and likely contributing to abnormal bleeding that you noticed.
Abnormal bleeding like this would not require you to contact your doctor unless it goes on for a long period of time or is very heavy. In these cases, your doctor can provide medication that would be helpful
Polycystic ovaries is treated with: (a) weight loss of any excess weight, (b) birth control pills (if not trying to conceive) , (c)metformin- polycystic ovaries is associated with resistance of the body to insulin Metformin reduces this resistance (d)medication to help with conception if trying to conceive
I hope this helps
