Does Bilateral Tympanoplasty Surgery Cause Hearing Loss?
Hello, my daughter is scheduled to have a bilateral typanoplasty surgery on July 18. We ve heard that most people do not recommend having this done at the same time because it could cause hearing loss. Is this the case? Or what recommendations would you have? The doctor performing the surgery is the Chief of Pediatric Otolaryngology at the University of Miami Health and Miami Miller School of Medicine so we are confident they know what they are doing but just wanted to get other opinions as well. Typanoplasty is a surgical procedure to repair the perforated or damaged ear drum. Since, this a repair of the damaged ear drum, it will not cause hearing loss. On the contrary it will improve the lost hearing loss. I suggest you to discuss your doubts with your surgeon.
