Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For about 3 years now I ve been getting symptoms occasionally. Usually around 9 or 10 in the morning when I don t eat breakfast. I will be reading something and then realize I can t see the letters, from the center of my vision a spot will start to grow until 80% or 90% of my vision is gone. I will then start to to loose feeling in my hands and feet and then when I lay down and I get up I will have a headache that I cannot even put into words. Only when I get up though after laying down. My sister who is a CNA told me that it s possible I might have hypoglycemia I m not sure.
It is quite possible that this is related to hypoglycemia. You could have this easily checked with a fingerstick glucose check. These devices are relatively inexpensive nowadays and you can usually buy them over-the-counter. There are other causes though. The medical term for near-fainting is "pre-syncope" and there is a multitude of other causes for this that can be explored if your glucose level is normal.
