Does Breast Feeding Lead To Miscarriage Of The Second Baby?
hi, i m 6 weeks pregnant n had a little bleeding yesterday. i am also breastfeeding my 11 months old baby. my doc gave me ivfc injection and asked to stop breastfeeding. i m vry worried. she advised me to take it twi ce a week. my first pregnancy was normal. does breastfeeding can really cause miscarriage?
Breast feeding however can potentially result in abortion. The hormones required to maintain breast feeding oppose the pregnancy hormones. In addition oxytocin is a hormone responsible for expulsion of breast milk. This is the same hormone that causes contractions in uterus during labor.
So please stop breast feeding and see your doctor. Since the bleeding was small the baby may be well and pregnancy continued with HCG injections, progesterone and bed rest. So do not worry. Just see your doctor. Hope this satisfies your query. Thanks for using HCM. Feel free to ask any more questions that you may have. Dr Madhuri Bagde Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist
