Does Burning Sensation In The Ear Need Medical Attention?

For the past 2 months I have had a burning sensation in my right ear. Last month I started having a burning sensation behind my right knee. Yesterday at 5 p.m. My lower right lip began twitching and it has been constant now and it is 12:15 p.m. Should I seek medical care?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

In my opinion, you have a fungal infection in your ear canal. It is called otomycosis. It will require antifungal ear drops and antifungal tablets.

Another possibility is ear wax. It can be removed by an ent expert or GP. You can use ear drops too, which loosen the wax and help in removing it.

Thirdly, it could be dermatitis of the ear canal skin. In this case, you will require steroids ear drops.

I would advise you to visit an ENT expert, get yourself examined, finalise the diagnosis and start taking treatment. You will be fine in a week.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
