Does Changes In Diet Cause Delay In Periods?

Hi Doc, Am damn afraid. Normally i have my periods same time with my sister and now she just finished her menses on Thursday 10th dec n mine have not come yet. On 26 th Nov, i had unprotected sex and took the P2 7 hrs after and the second tab after another 7 hrs. I have had a serious change of diet since 1st Dec in a new environment where i am till 16th Dec. Could this be the reason of the delayed periods. I am terribly stressed since i do not want to get pregnant at least for now. Kindly help Disturbed Kenyan

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Yes diet could delay your period. But this problem occurs when you have severe weight gain or are overeating. Slight change in diet pattern doesn't change your periods much
However delayed period after intake of emergency pill as postinor is a common problem. It is known side effect due to high dose of hormone levogesterol contained in the pill. So your periods could be delayed for one or two cycles. Pregnancy chance is very less after intake of emergency pill.
Use condoms or regular contraceptive pills to prevent pregnancy in future. Frequent intake of emergency contraceptive pills can cause serious problems like irregular periods, ectopic pregnancy, ovarian hyper-stimulation syndrome & even infertility.

If your period doesn't occur even after 2 week delay,Consult a gynaecologist

Hope this information helps
