Does Chest Seizure And Exhaustion Due To Lorazepam Detoxification Need ER Admission?
i am four days into lorazepam cold turkey detox. I have been taking them for a year and a half and I have been taking 4 mg/day for about 4 months. I was in a detox facility and have a prescription for depakote and trazadone. I take most of it in the evenings. But I have 4 hours to go until it s time for meds...and my chest is seizing up...I m exhausted and my chest has been seizing up. What are the signs that I should go to the ER?
Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine drug and it is a brain depressant drug. Cessation of the drug use after long term use results in precipitation of withdrawal symptoms. Even withdrawal seizures or Generalised seizures (GTCS) can be seen. You took high doses of lorazepam and then stopped the used which resulted in withdrawal. As you have chest seizing up and are exhausted then there is risk of withdrawal seizures. I would advise you to consult ER for symptom relief. Usually sudden stoppage of these medicines is not advised, patients are advised to gradually taper the doses to prevent side effects. Use of depakote and tazodon will help to improve mood stabilisation but this will not help in seizures.
Thanks, hope this helps you.
