Does Chronic Intake Of Snuff Lower The Cholesterol Level?

iam a 65 yr old man and i been using snuff for 50 yrs and decided to stop last wednesday because my dr. saysthat could be the reason my good cholesterol won,t come up ! i had a 4 way heart by-pass in 1996 and don,t want to go through that again ! would my dr. be right on that ? thanks !

Hi welcome to HCM.
Its very important that you control your blood cholesterol levels in the normal range in view of past history of 4 bypass surgeries.I advice you to keep your total cholesterol levels to less than 150mg%.Inhaling snuff can lead to metabolic abnormalities of lipid metabolism.Regular physical exercise for 20 min a day can lower blood cholesterol levels.Maintain BMI around 22.Continue using statins.Consult your doctor for further care.
