Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. In early 2013 I had a colonoscopy. Ever since then, I have had horrible IBS, especially whenever I eat. I usually have to use the bathroom after each meal, which is semi-urgent and I pass some mucus with yellow stool which is either very loose or diarrhea. These symptoms weren't there before.
Since I am always having to use the bathroom after eating and my stools are yellow, I suspect I may have problem with my small intestines and have too fast a transit time. Do you think the colonoscopy could have damaged my ileocal valve (as the camera pushed through the valve to see my terminal ileum)?
Aside from that, is there anyway to reduce my symptoms (aside from lomotil, imodium etc.)
Hi. Never heard of development of such a problem after colonoscopy, nor is this documented often in our medical literature.Need to go to bathroom after food is seen in patients having a disease at the junction of small to large intestine and appendix area in maximum of cases. I would advise such patients to go for CT scan of abdomen, change foods / beverages increasing this problem. All relevant blood and stool tests, X-ray chest and so on depending upon physical findings. Better to consult an Gastro specialist.
