Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Constant Heightened Immune Activity Cause Inflammation?
I have a general question. Does immune response always involve inflamation? Could your blood (but not the blood vessel or circulatory system) have inflammation reaction? What I am trying to get at is what is the downside to constant heightened immune activity?
I understand your concern about inflammation. I would say no, the immune response always does not lead to inflammation. Yes, there can be an immune response only in blood not involving tissues.
Whenever there is an excessive immune reaction of the body which can be against foreign substances or it can be against the body's own tissues.
Treatment is towards the cause for inflammation as well as the consequences of inflammation and reaction.
For good response, medicine such as steroids and immunosuppressants will help that to suppress. I advise my patients to consult a physician before taking any such medicines as the medicines are very dangerous if taken without consultation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Azhar Hussain,
